The awaited ALL-NEW Velvetiser® launch has truly stirred up a thing or two here at Hotel Chocolat, and that includes our barista-grade hot chocolate recipes.

In line with the new Velvetiser in town, we now have even more varied flavours for your taste buds to explore, savour, and experiment with. With autumn steadily rolling in, we believe it’s the very best time to elevate your chocolate rituals, expand your flavour horizons, and find new flavours to indulge in.

What is at the base of every Velvetiser drinking chocolate recipe?

Before we immerse ourselves in the world of flavour, let’s take a step back and begin with the basics. What can you find at the core of your Hotel Chocolat drinking chocolate cup?

All of our Velvetiser recipes are made with real chocolate — no syrups, or additives in sight. With our firm mantra of more cacao, less sugar, you can always expect a deep and rich flavour that lingers blissfully on the palate as standard.

For hot drinks, our drinking chocolates are made from real chocolate flakes for the best melt. For our cold variations, they’re made from finely milled real chocolate for a supple, cool, and fully integrated sip when combined with your chosen milk.

Imagine Hotel Chocolat as a season, and your mind will land on autumn. Think cosy moments, connection, warming spices, and comfort.

Our in-house team of chocolatiers have taken the warm and fuzzy feelings of this ethereal season and held them captive in our hot chocolate sachets — all for the benefit of you and your taste buds.

What’s more, all these new limited-edition recipes (including our cold variations) have been specifically curated to offer the ultimate Velvetiser experience. Each sachet has been meticulously measured and filled with a precise level of cacao, ensuring that The Velvetiser’s transformative vortex-effect melds the fine cacao flakes and their flavour perfectly.

Pumpkin Spice

Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate — autumn personified. It’s a modern classic for excellent reasons, but one that we’ve reimagined to be as comforting, creamy, and cacao-rich as possible.

To do this, we’ve combined creamy caramel-milk chocolate with notes of cinnamon, ginger, and spiced pumpkin to warm your bones from the inside out this season.

The caramel-milk chocolate base melds into a beautifully thick texture, while the spices are evenly and satisfyingly diffused thanks to The Velvetiser’s folding vortex. The result? A balanced, warming sip, finished with the smoothest of cremas.

Matcha

Where cacao, calm, and Japanese tradition meet as one. Inspired by the serenity of Japanese tea rituals, we’ve taken ceremonial-grade matcha and merged it with our finest white chocolate flakes.

In every sip and savour of our Matcha Hot Chocolate, you can expect the harmony of grassy umami, a melt-in-the-mouth creaminess, and the vanilla undertones of 36% house white chocolate. We even sourced this matcha from 10 smallholder farmers in the Shizuoka district of Japan, for the deepest and most authentic flavour.

Chai Spice

Unapologetically bold and invigoratingly aromatic, our Chai Spice Hot Chocolate draws upon the rituals of Indian masala chai and the grounding effects of traditional Maya drinking chocolate.

Expect warming ginger, cinnamon, and clove, layered and blended into our signature 70% dark chocolate for a satisfyingly complex flavour that you can’t help but reach for evening after evening.

The ALL-NEW Velvetiser’s vortex technology is designed to preserve texture, clarity, and flavour depth, even at cold temperatures.

Our Cherry Cold Drinking Chocolate bridges the gap between the seasons with the tart richness of deep Morello cherries, melded with real cacao for a refined, complex flavour. It’s the classic pairing of cherry and chocolate, and it’s truly never been better.
