Our Cacao World
We buy over 97% of our cacao from Ghana, additional cacao from St Lucia and, for our Rare & Vintage range, we source cacao from farming cooperatives and organisations that share our ethical outlook in Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Ghana and Honduras.
We also source coffee from regions such as Brazil’s Monte Alto, a cooperative of farmers in the Cauca region of Colombia, and by a female-led group in Rwanda.
Wherever we source cacao or coffee, we take great care to ensure 100% ethical labour practices and eco-conscious, sustainable farming practices. How we achieve this varies by region. For example, in Ghana and St Lucia we have our own programs that have been developed over 20 years of hands-on experience. We believe these programs are just as ethical as any Fairtrade or Rainforest Alliance certified program, with robust policies that ensure prosperity for our farmers, 100% ethical labour practices and truly sustainable farming.
In other territories, we have less direct control over the farming and supply chain, so to ensure 100% ethical and sustainable production, we carefully vet our suppliers and only work with people who share our unwavering principles.
Being an ethical chocolatier is a journey, not a destination. We are continually reviewing, improving and enhancing our practices all over the world. Because doing the right thing is part of our DNA.
