"I was fortunate to get married at Boucan"
"We spent 6 wonderful days here when our daughter was married last week. From the moment we arrived we were looked after and it was a relaxing, luxurious vacation. Judy took care of all the details and our daughter's day was simple but elegant the way she wanted it to be. The food and service was excellent...a little bit of chocolate heaven at every meal! The chocolate scented massage, the hiking in the hills, the sound of the birds and rain showers from the open air Luxe Lodge makes it one of my top vacation memories! It is very quiet and relaxing so if you are looking for a party you won't find it here. Just relaxation, beauty and chocolate, chocolate, chocolate!"
"I was fortunate to get married on the ridge at Boucan by Hotel Chocolat. The breathtaking views were nothing short of miraculous. The island is a beautiful stunner and this resort was the perfect fit for it."
"The lodges are nestled clear into the landscape. They are beautiful, comfortable and so inviting, I could have stayed for weeks. If you want something that is private and upscale, this is your place. From chocolate, nuts and delicious cookies left in your room to the gigantic open air rain showers, to huge beds with soft sheets and grand pillows, this place has it all."
"The food is incredible and the flavors of subtle cocoa, and bright hints of citrus and light curries will NOT leave you hungry. Many people rave about the food and they are so right. It's perfect. I never got bored as the menu was full of options. In fact, I wanted to try more! The Chocolate Balsamic dipping sauce... to die for. The Pork Tenderloin, maybe the best I've ever had. The Beef Fillet, you could cut it with a fork. Oh my! Don't even get me started on the desserts and chocolate Daiquiris!!"
"We had children with us and had booked the entire property for our wedding and they had plenty to do and loved the food. They have a shuttle that runs to a beach very close by and an entire afternoon was spent snorkelling and swimming in the most beautiful, clean waters you may ever see. The Tree to Bean/Bean to Bar tour was facilitated by the most knowledgeable and passionate man who had an uncanny ability to draw people in and infuse them with his passion. We also did the Tet-Paul Trail which was a highlight. This nature trail will wind you up through exotic plants, fruits and landscapes. You will get such beautiful views of the Pitons, you may never want to leave."
My wedding was a dream come true, my stay at this resort has left an impression on my heart that will last forever. However, I have to say that one main reason for it being so perfect was Phil, Judy and the entire staff. From the moment we arrived there was no detail overlooked or request denied. I have never felt so taken care of and respected, or so much a part of a family on any vacation as I had here with the people of The Boucan. Their customer service and large hearts are exemplary. Nothing here is forced. It all comes from a genuine love and passion for seeing a job well done!
"Matthew and I WILL be back. Without a doubt this is the vacation (and wedding!) that exceeded my every expectation. Thank you so very much!!!"
"Omg - where do we start?"
"Our wedding was everything we could have wished for and more. The welsh crew arrive on this beautiful island with Welsh kilts, cloggins and and a heavily decorated wedding gown! For a wedding, anniversary or birthday this is a truly magical beautiful place. Thank you Judy and Lorna for making our dreams come true!! Including sourcing a violinist and cello player - for our special day (Pearl and Yanick) and beautiful flowers, and a stunning location for our wedding ceremony.
"Nothing was too much trouble. The views and hotel and rooms are amazing! Staff are very friendly and helpful, the food is to die for and the duck dish and Aberdeen fillet steak was out of this world. Don't even get me started on the desserts, it's the closest thing to heaven.
The tours- Tree to Bar with Culthbert was fabulous, a very knowledgeable man. If you're fit, walk the Gros piton it's a great morning out - the sulphur springs and mud bath is mad fun - and the sugar beach is pretty with a great snorkelling area.
Whispers bar has great food and friendly locals a true St Lucian experience! With a BBQ on Friday nights for $20 is well worth it! The Boucan Hotel is a relaxed place with one of the best views in the island.
Would we visit again? Most definitely! We plan to visit our cocoa trees and show off our wedding album. A great excuse to come back. Ignore any stuffy reviews or bad comments, this is far better than Sandals, a truly unique boutique hotel!
Two observations- I would like to see a matre d with extensive wine knowledge and more choices of wines, i.e. lighter California wines rosé and white for lunch plus more Spanish rjoca's and Italian wines, that would go with the meals available on the menu. Plus a Caribbean dish on the menu to give a creole twist but of course with chocolate!
Thank you once again from Samantha and Dillon x"
"My husband and I and 30 of our friends and family just spent an incredible 3-day wedding weekend at Hotel Chocolat."
We had high expectations of this hotel given all the rave reviews in various magazines, and the hotel still managed to far exceed our expectations- in terms of the service, the food, the lodging, and the natural beauty of the island.
Planning the wedding...
When I told the hotel that I wanted to plan a 3-day weekend, Lorna and Judy from the hotel reached out to me to begin planning, and were able to accommodate all of my requests- beach BBQ? No problem. Guest with a severe peanut allergy? On top of it. Set up a chuppah and arrange for flowers? Done. Recommend local restaurants AND negotiate a deal for our group? they did that too!! They were able to orchestrate and flawlessly execute the entire weekend and even went as far as being at each destination (even all the places off the resort) ahead of time to make sure everything was set up just right and that our guest with the peanut allergy knew what he could and could not eat. AMAZING service and attention to detail!!
The food...
Was superb! Our group is really into food- my mom is the toughest food critic I know, my husband's brother is a chef, and my husband and I love eating everything NYC has to offer... So the bar was set high! Again, the food impressed us all, even my mom. Chef Ron and his team did a great job at the reception dinner and the beach BBQ (the ribs fell off the bone, and the BBQ sauce- not my wedding, was the talk of the night!). The breakfasts were also unbelievable!!! Fresh fruit, eggs, bacon, oatmeal, granola, toast, smoothie shots- a dream breakfast for those really into breakfast (I am). As for the wedding cake, Lorna moonlights as a pastry chef and baked and iced my two-tier fruit cake wedding cake HERSELF. It was as delicious as it was beautiful!
The Ceremony location...
Was at the Ridge, which was higher up in the mountains and had a clearing which overlooked both the Gros and Petit Pitons. It was more beautiful than I could have imagined and so much better than even the photos. There was no rain, but had there been, Judy and Lorna were at the ready with a tent. Just in case.
The lodges
We stayed in a Luxe Lodge with grand views of the Pitons. It was the most noticeable aspect of the room, but there was a ton of good stuff in the details. The room was very very clean and well-designed and constructed. All the finishings are very high end, with the most outstanding aspect being the open-roof shower with 1mx1m rain shower head. There are earplugs, eye masks, and natural mosquito repellent provided. However, neither the noise nor the mosquitoes were an issue. Falling asleep at night to the sounds of the forest was incredibly relaxing, and awaking to the sound of birds chirping is a luxury when you're coming from NYC. Additionally, we got chocolate, cookies and nuts everyday along with a bottle of prosecco when we arrived, all compliments of Chester the hotel manager, who was always making sure we had everything we needed.
The pool party...
The pool deck is well-appointed with loungers, rocking chairs, and a bar. The infinity pool is even more beautiful than the photos and was a spectacular place to throw a midnight pool party/dance party. The late-night snacks we had previously arranged were delicious of course, and were a welcome treat after a long night of drinking.
The Staff...
Were extremely friendly, competent, professional and accommodating. Great staff.
Tree to Bean Tour...
Pre-ceremony, we took our group on this tour and it was so informative and fun! My husband and I and our parents got to graft our own cocoa tree. We were told that it would be planted and cultivated, and in a few years it would be ready to harvest for chocolate. The whole process felt somewhat ceremonial, and was the perfect pre-ceremony bonding activity for our families.
The chocolate...
Yes, it really is that good. Wish i could have it everyday. The dishes at the restaurant incorporated cocoa in a lot, if not all of the dishes, but never was it overpowering or repetitive.
Our guests...
Could not believe such a place exists. They had a great time at the hotel and the weekend!
It was a weekend I will remember forever, and I have Hotel Chocolat and Lorna and Judy and the staff to thank for that. I cannot wait to return to this place, and my only regret is that it was only a 3-day weekend, not 4 or 5!
