Objective of role

Responsibilities

Strategy
  • Support and uphold the Hotel Chocolat competencies striving to exceed expectation
  • Identify and own solutions for risks or improvement opportunities to the store or the wider business
  • Attend and contribute to company events and manage effective communication of company activity to store team
  • Take additional responsibility as directed by Retail Management, for example, covering other stores, acting as a training store, arranging group events, supporting new store launches
  • Carry out project work as required by the Head of Retail and/or RDM
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of HC knowledge and techniques


Guest Experience

  • Deliver world class service in store which will engage our guests and deliver on our mystery shop programmes.
  • Be a brand ambassador and develop your team to be so
  • Ensure all the team are in line with the brand values and positioning
  • Contribute to service strategy , including management of social media if appropriate

Operations

  • Act as the store’s Personal Licence Holder for the sale of alcohol
  • Maintain outstanding hygiene, cleanliness and tidiness standards in the store
  • Manage health & safety for the store, and act as a First Aider

  • Ensure policy and procedural compliance and contribute to procedure
  •  Manage all aspects of store security in accordance with company policy and procedure including staff, cash, stock, IT, buildings

Finance and Commerciality

  • Optimise sales through effective customer experience and selling techniques
  • Staff the store as efficiently as possible to minimise wage costs whilst still delivering effective customer experience
  • Manage stock to minimise waste and damage and maximise availability by liaising with distribution and merchandising departments
  • Optimise conversion through effective merchandising and presentation of the store
  • Manage all costs of the store efficiently to minimise expenditure
  • Report on performance as required

People Management

  • Carry out continuous assessment and development of staff
  • Take responsibility for personal development and actively seek opportunities for improvement
  • To interview and recruit the right calibre of candidates to minimise staff turnover.

Experience Required

  • Minimum of one year of retail management experience with full P&L responsibility, ideally with a prestige brand

Skills & Knowledge Required

  • Professional business awareness
  • Understanding of store targets and the drivers behind them
  • Sound judgement with confident decision-making
  • Ability to implement procedural change
  • Ability to coach and give feedback effectively and honestly
  • Assertive, confident communication
  • IT literacy with a sound understanding of Excel, MS Outlook and interne
  • Ability to adapt to frequent change and a high pressure environment
  • Knowledge of the Hotel Chocolat business drivers
