Level: Manager
Hours: 40 hours per week
Location: Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire


To manage and optimise business-wide expenditure of c.£5m spend.
Review and develop supply base capabilities in line with brand and business needs.

Job Roles & Responsibilities

Sourcing & Buying
  • Within the chocolate development process….
  • Source to a brief (specification, cost, supply method, MOQ)
  • Speculative sourcing (on brand, on cost)
  • Buy raw materials in the most cost effective way
  • Contract against targeted annual savings
  • Spot deals
  • Minimise waste through specification and usage management
  • Analyse factory usage and drive actions to mitigate variance
Product Development
  • Confirm all commercial details for new products before they are signed off
  • With Chocolate Development team (costing & specification)
  • With Material controller (in readiness for purchase order)
  • Optimisation of on-going material supply - working with Material Controller & supply chain team
  • Plan attainment, space, cash-flow focussed
Supply Base
  • Be the ‘go-to’ person for all ingredients supply within the business
  • On-going review and gap analysis
  • Understand supplier capability (current & future)
  • Specifications optimised with supplier to achieve best cost/supply
  • Vendor management
  • Raw materials price vs costed standard
  • Usage variance & waste
  • Performance vs targeted saving
  • Stock turn/inventory valuation

Skills & Qualifications

  • Food industry experience (ideally +3 years in similar role)
  • Ideally CIPs qualified
  • Negotiation skills
  • Strong IT & numeracy skills
  • Ability to travel worldwide if necessary
  • UK Driving Licence
